Does Your Deck Need a Renovation?
Your deck is more than just a place to sit.
Your deck is more than just a place to sit. It’s also an extension of your home and can be used for many different activities, including:
- BBQs
- Parties
- Games of cards, chess or dominoes with friends and family
Check the structure.
Next, you will want to check the structure of your deck. This includes checking for cracks and splinters in the frame, rot in joists, looseness in railings, rust on screws and damage to the decking itself.
Replace old decking.
If you have an old deck, it’s time to replace the wood. This can be done by removing the old boards and replacing them with new ones. First, use a pressure-treated lumber for the new boards and nail gun to attach them in place. Then make sure that all of your new boards are level with each other before using wood glue to hold them together for good!
Replace rotting boards with new ones.
The first step in replacing your decking is removing the old boards. You can do this with a power drill and a chisel, or you can hire someone to do it for you. Once all the boards have been removed, make sure there aren’t any nails left behind by using a hammer and chisel. Then cut new boards to size using either a power saw or manual hand tools such as an axe or sawzall (if working alone). Screw new planks into place with screws–don’t use nails! Finally, drive in any remaining nails with a hammer so that they’re flush with the surface of wood
Remove dead plants and remove the surrounding soil.
Remove dead plants and remove the surrounding soil.
This is a great way to make sure that any harmful chemicals or pesticides haven’t been left behind in your soil, which can be harmful to other plants and trees.
Make sure you have a plan before you start removing anything: where will you put all of your old plants? Are they going into another area of your garden, or are they going straight into the trash? Do not just toss them out–you want to make sure there aren’t any chemicals left on these leaves that could harm other plants in their new location!
Rake up any leaves and other debris that may have blown into your backyard.
If you have a backyard, you probably have leaves. Raking is a good workout, and it helps keep your yard tidy. But don’t forget to do it regularly–and don’t forget to dispose of those leaves!
These are just a few of the things you can do to improve your deck. If you’re feeling overwhelmed by all of these projects, don’t worry! We can give you a FREE QUOTE today on your deck renovation.
